Until the mid-1990s, SK Energy's chemical business tried to grow by the vertical integration and the expansion of derivatives. After that, we focused on the efficient management and restructuring.
In 2004, SK Energy achieved 631 billion won in operating profit, a 69% increase year-on-year, thanks to the upturn of the chemical business and our efforts to maximize earnings. We accomplished such feat by promptly and effectively responding to changes in the domestic and global markets. We will make further efforts to ensure our future growth by establishing LiBS plants and Solvent JV in China.
